Acorn Woodpecker Eavesdropping Research Presentation

At the end of my Fall 2021 UC NRS field ecology course, I gave a presentation at Blue Oak Ranch Reserve with my peers on our final research project. Of course, we were the last to present. During the other presentations, the acorn woodpeckers outside the building began to incessantly peck the roof of the barn. While I am certainly a professional, I do love a good joke, so I opened our presentation with a loving comment to the woodpeckers about how impatient they must be to hear us talk about them!

Below, you will find our slides from the research presentation, as well as a script that you can use to follow along. Unfortunately, the signal was so bad in that barn that there is no video of our presentation or that iconic moment with our focal species.
